I recently invested $6,500 in a registered Black Angus bull, eager to enhance my herd’s genetics. He looked ideal strong, healthy, and exactly what I wanted. I was excited to see the difference he would make. But after introducing him to the cows, my enthusiasm began to wane. Instead of showing interest, he simply wandered off to graze. Day after day, he ignored the herd and never attempted to breed.
As weeks went by, my frustration mounted. I started to wonder if he was too young or simply not fit for breeding. It felt like a costly mistake with no return in sight. Eventually, I called the vet, who gave the bull a thorough examination. The vet confirmed he was healthy but likely inexperienced.
“Give him one of these pills daily,” he advised, handing me a bottle of supplements. Though doubtful, I decided to try it. To my amazement, within two days the bull’s behavior changed completely. He became relentless, breeding every cow and even broke through the fence to breed the neighbor’s cows too. The transformation was incredible.
Of course, the neighbors weren’t pleased. I assured them I’d strengthen the fences, though I couldn’t help but admire the bull’s sudden vigor. Curious, I tried one of the pills myself. It tasted minty, like peppermint. It was hard to believe something so simple had such a powerful effect. Looking back, I realize I judged too soon. What I thought was a poor investment turned out to be one of my best decisions. Now, all I need are stronger fences—and maybe a few more of those pills.
