Kylee Monteiro, 18, who was 11 weeks pregnant, went missing on August 7, 2025. Nearly two weeks later, her body was discovered buried in the woods behind her boyfriend Gregory Groom’s home in Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
Prosecutors said Monteiro texted her sister the night she vanished, alleging Groom had assaulted and strangled her, adding: “If I die, it was Greg.” Friends also recalled her saying she didn’t feel safe.
Initially, Groom told police she had left his property, but during a later interview, he confessed to pushing her, then stabbing her multiple times. He admitted to burying her body near a shed on his property.
Groom, 22, has been charged with murder, assault on a pregnant victim, and related offenses. He is being held without bail, with a probable cause hearing set for September 10.
Monteiro had recently announced her pregnancy on Instagram and hoped to enroll in welding school. Her family and friends described her as full of potential, saying they were helping her prepare for motherhood.
