At the hospital, my sister decided it was the \u2019perfect time\u2019 to announce her pregnancy. She said, \u201cWell, since you\u2019re no longer pregnant, it\u2019s finally my turn!\u201d Seeing me furious, mom laughed and said I was \u2019too sensitive.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, as soon as our parents left my room, I froze when my sister leaned in and whispered, \u201cHonestly, your miscarriage made it easier for me to finally announce mine. I didn\u2019t want to steal your spotlight before!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then she walked out, leaving me in tears, alone in my hospital bed. I felt devastated, not only by her words, but by the cruel timing, AND by my mother\u2019s laughter, as if my pain was nothing more than oversensitivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now I\u2019m torn. Part of me is furious at them both for dismissing my grief and treating it as an inconvenience. But another part keeps whispering that maybe I am being too sensitive, that maybe the hormones, the grief, the trauma of it all are making me see malice where there wasn\u2019t any.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m right to feel betrayed, or if I\u2019m just too raw to think clearly.
