{"id":13784,"date":"2025-10-24T17:24:51","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T17:24:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsinbr.com\/?p=13784"},"modified":"2025-10-24T17:24:51","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T17:24:51","slug":"cracker-barrel-apologizes-removes-offensive-decoration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsinbr.com\/?p=13784","title":{"rendered":"Cracker Barrel Apologizes, Removes \u2018Offensive\u2019 Decoration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A customer at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Connecticut called out the establishment\u2019s decorations, highlighting that there appeared to be \u201cnooses on the ceiling.\u201d The restaurant chain has since issued an apology for the decorations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cracker Barrel later explained that the \u201cnoose\u201d was a wrapped cord which was attached to d\u00e9cor items, but maintained that it was \u201ccompletely unacceptable\u201d that employees at the establishment failed to note that they looked like nooses before the decorations were put on display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Twitter user Alfonso Robinson posted pictures of the decorations, and captioned the post: \u201cSomeone at Cracker Barrel in East Windsor need to explain why there are nooses on the ceiling\u2026\u201d<br>Exterior of a Cracker Barrel restaurant, Photo Credit: Twitter\/Alfonso Robinson<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cracker Barrel responded to the tweet that same evening, writing that the \u201cnoose\u201d decoration was \u201can original wrapped cord\u201d which belonged to an \u201cantique soldering iron\u201d put on display at the East Windsor restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The restaurant stated that the item has since been taken down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Activists arrived at the restaurant and they had a \u201cpositive\u201d and \u201cconstructive\u201d conversation with restaurant manager Mark Smith, PowerUp-Manchester founder Keren Prescott said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Smith said that the noose-like cord had been displayed in the premises for 22 years, but that no one had noticed it until last week. He invited Prescott to take a look inside the restaurant.<br>Photo inside a Cracker Barrel showing nooses hanging from the ceiling, Photo Credit: Twitter\/Alfonso Robinson<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to the Journal Inquirer, Prescott said: \u201cAt one point the manager said, \u2018You might notice things that I don\u2019t,\u2019 which I really appreciated because as White man, he might not view certain things the same as a Black person would.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A number of Twitter users have called for Cracker Barrel to launch a review of all the decorations in its locations, or put forth a timeline for the review to be conducted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cracker Barrel sent a statement to Fox News, saying: \u201cWe work hard to create a culture of hospitality that\u2019s welcoming, respectful and inclusive to everyone who walks through our doors.
