I have been in a wheelchair since I was 17 because of an accident. My sister is getting married soon, and last week she pulled me aside to tell me that my wheelchair would \u201cruin the vintage aesthetic\u201d she wanted for her wedding. She asked if I could avoid using it for the day, which of course is impossible. Then she suggested I rent a different \u201cdecorative\u201d wheelchair to match her theme. When I refused, she told me to sit in the back and stay out of the photos. I finally got upset and told her it was insulting to expect me to hide or pretend I could walk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She started crying and yelled that if I wouldn\u2019t \u201ccompromise,\u201d then I shouldn\u2019t come to the wedding at all. So I told her fine, and that since I wouldn\u2019t be there, she wouldn\u2019t get her wedding gift from me either. What she didn\u2019t know was that I had secretly saved up to give her an all-expenses-paid honeymoon trip as a surprise.
