Alisha told me the real reason she\u2019s giving up the baby isn\u2019t because the father disappeared, but because she\u2019s terminally ill. She doesn\u2019t expect to live more than a year or two longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I understand that Alisha\u2019s in a really tough spot, but I\u2019m honestly struggling with this request. I can\u2019t help but feel like she\u2019s asking us to hide a huge part of who the baby is\u2014hide a whole part of his family, his history, and the reality of why he was adopted in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I mean, what happens when the truth inevitably comes out? How do we explain it then? And more importantly, how do I make this promise to her when I know it feels wrong?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I want to support Alisha through this, but I also don\u2019t want to set the baby up for a life of confusion and, eventually, resentment. Am I being too harsh? Is it wrong for me to want to be honest about the family history, even if it\u2019s not what Alisha wants? I\u2019m struggling to figure out how to handle this without betraying her or my own values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
