Bringing our baby girl, Grace, home from the hospital was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life. Instead, it turned into a nightmare I\u2019ll never forget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sage green walls Evan and I had lovingly painted were gone, replaced by dark navy. The bright yellow curtains, the soft rug, the glass mobile \u2014 all gone. We found my mother\u2019s blankets stuffed into a trash bag in the garage. That night, we rebuilt the crib, rehung the curtains, and placed Grace in her room surrounded by the love we\u2019d chosen for her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Patricia tried to come back, even bringing a mediator, but Evan stood firm: our daughter deserves people who accept her unconditionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
