I woke up early, dressed my best, and headed out\u2014only for my car to sputter and die. Kathy hadn\u2019t filled the gas tank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I called her in a panic. She just shrugged it off, saying, \u201cCall an Uber.\u201d By the time I got to the interview, I was too late. The job slipped through my fingers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That night, Dad invited Kathy to dinner. Halfway through the meal, he told her the truth: I missed the interview because of her carelessness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She tried to defend herself, but Dad wasn\u2019t having it. He made her fill my tank and pay me back for every drop of gas she\u2019d used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next day, she dropped off the money, furious. I stayed calm and told her, \u201cKindness has value.
