Away from the cameras, she formed a particularly close bond with Heather O\u2019Rourke, who played Ashley\u2019s daughter. Purl welcomed the young actress into her home for meals and overnight stays, creating memories she would carry for decades. Heather died in 1988 at age 12, a loss Purl has described as deeply heartbreaking.
