October 1 was supposed to be a celebration for Ken Urker, who turned 34 that day. A family dinner had been planned, but the evening never unfolded as expected after Ken stopped responding to messages. Around 6:15 p.m., deputies were called to his home in Raceland, Louisiana, where he was found dead. Gypsy Rose Blanchard had sent him a birthday message earlier, but received no response, and Gypsy’s half-brother Dylan and his wife eventually went to the house intending to pick Ken up for dinner. Following his death, Gypsy said Ken had not been “in a good state of mind lately” and said she believed he had overdosed, although she did not know what he may have taken or whether an overdose was accidental or intentional. Authorities had not publicly announced a final cause of death at the time of the report. Gypsy also described Ken as having endured “relentless cyberbullying,” saying the online attention surrounding their relationship had deeply affected him, though no official finding has connected that scrutiny to his death.

Ken’s relationship with Gypsy had brought him into public attention, and their story included reunions, breakups, marriage-related plans, pregnancy speculation, and the birth of their daughter, Aurora. The couple had publicly discussed building a future together, including a shared home, another engagement, and possibly having another child. However, Ken’s sister Autumn later said during a TikTok livestream that Ken and Gypsy had already separated, a claim whose timing has not been independently confirmed. Despite the reported breakup, Gypsy described Ken after his death as her “soulmate” and “red string,” while grieving the loss of Aurora’s father. Autumn also recalled that the final words her brother said to her were simply, “I love you.” Ken had previously spoken warmly about fatherhood, describing his attention to Aurora’s smallest changes, from her growing hair to her changing weight. For his 34th birthday, a dinner had been waiting, but instead his family was left facing an unexpected death and questions that investigators had not yet answered.
