Erika Kirk hits back at judgement on the way she’s grieved amid husband Charlie’s death

Erika Kirk, widow of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, has spoken out about her experience with grief after his tragic death on September 10, 2025. Charlie was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University, leaving behind Erika and their two young children. In the wake of his passing, Erika has stepped in as CEO of Turning Point USA, the organization her husband founded.

Her decision to continue Charlie’s work drew criticism from some online users who claimed she moved on “too quickly” or wasn’t prioritizing her children. In response, Erika shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, explaining that grief doesn’t follow a timeline. “One day you’re collapsed on the floor crying,” she wrote, “the next you’re playing with your children and feeling bittersweet joy.”

Erika reflected on her love for Charlie, saying it had only grown stronger through her suffering. “Love doesn’t ask to be healed—it asks to be remembered,” she wrote, emphasizing that her husband remains a part of her in every breath and action. Her post was accompanied by clips of supporters honoring Charlie’s memory.

In a later tribute, Erika shared one of Charlie’s weekly handwritten love notes, encouraging others to cherish their spouses. Her words offered a powerful reminder that grief and love can coexist—and that continuing a loved one’s legacy is its own form of healing.
