Beauty salons can be full of unexpected drama, even for regular customers. One young woman experienced this firsthand when she sat next to a woman in her forties during a haircut. The woman kept loudly commenting, “Oh, poor girl, such thin hair!” repeatedly, as if the young woman couldn’t hear her.
Eventually, the young woman had enough. She turned to the lady and snapped, “I was born this way, not with a horse’s mane. Should I shave my head and become a nun? You should learn some tact. Oh, poor woman—so old and so ill-mannered.”
The entire salon went silent. The rude woman was stunned and said nothing further, embarrassed by being called out in front of everyone.
As the young woman left, she overheard the lady whispering excuses to herself: “What did I even say? Young people are so nervous nowadays.” But everyone knew exactly who had crossed the line.
