Beloved actor and voice-over artist Jonathan Joss, best known as the voice of John Redcorn on “King of the Hill,” was fatally shot on June 1, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was 59. Police found him with multiple gunshot wounds after he visited the site of his burned-down home to collect a fire relief check—and tragically discovered the remains of one of his dogs.
Joss was reportedly emotional when a confrontation occurred with neighbor Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, who allegedly shot and killed him. Ceja, now in custody, had a history of conflict with the couple. Joss’ husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, said they’d endured over two years of threats and abuse at that location, including homophobic slurs and warnings that their home would be set on fire—warnings they say were ignored by authorities.
In a moving Facebook tribute, Gonzales revealed Joss died protecting him, pushing him out of harm’s way. “He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get,” he wrote. The two had married just months earlier, on Valentine’s Day, shortly after the fire that destroyed their home, possessions, and three beloved dogs. A fundraiser launched after the fire raised over $17,000 to support the couple.
Despite police stating that no current evidence classifies the killing as a hate crime, fans and supporters remain outraged and heartbroken. They continue to rally around Gonzales, celebrating Joss’ legacy not just as an actor, but as a resilient, loving man who endured immense loss—and gave his life for someone he loved.
