I came home from work expecting to find my daughter, Lily, and her babysitter, Jessica, safe and sound. But the house was eerily quiet and empty. No giggles, no cartoons, no signs of life. Panic set in. I called Jessica no answer. That’s when I remembered the AirTag I had slipped into Lily’s pink backpack. When I opened the app, my heart nearly stopped: she was at the airport.

I drove like a maniac, following the signal with dread. At the terminal, I spotted her backpack and then Jessica, Daniel (my ex), and his awful mother, Brenda. Jessica apologized profusely when she realized the truth, promising she’d never have helped if she’d known.
