Dallas Cowboys DE Marshawn Kneeland’s Girlfriend Called Police Hours Before His Death

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, 24, died in the early hours of November 5, 2025, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a late-night police search in Frisco, Texas. The incident began when law enforcement pursued his vehicle and his girlfriend called 911, warning he was armed, struggling with mental illness, and threatening to end his life. After crashing his car and fleeing on foot, Kneeland was later found deceased in a portable restroom near the crash site.

The news devastated family, teammates, and fans. Just days earlier, Kneeland had scored a touchdown on a blocked punt, marking a highlight in his promising early NFL career. Tributes from Western Michigan University and team associates praised his discipline, leadership, and character, remembering him as more than an athlete — a respected and hardworking young man whose life ended far too soon.
