TV Star Chef Dies in Helicopter Crash

The entertainment and culinary world is mourning the loss of Mynie Steffens, 43, a beloved South African TV presenter and co-host of VIA’s Speel met Vuur. Steffens tragically passed away on November 10, 2025, during a solo flight over farmland near Patensie in the Eastern Cape. Authorities are currently investigating the accident.

A licensed pilot and instructor, Steffens was admired not only for her talent onscreen but also for her adventurous spirit and dedication to her craft. Friends, colleagues, and fans have expressed deep grief, remembering her creativity, warmth, and passion for life. Her co-host and longtime friend, Aldi van der Walt, shared heartfelt memories, calling the loss a “massive shock” and saying Steffens lived life “to the full.”

Steffens’ work on Speel met Vuur inspired many, blending bold culinary style with her vibrant personality. VIA TV honored her legacy with a touching tribute, thanking her for inspiring others to embrace life with courage and curiosity.
