My Teen Daughter Pretended to Be Sick Every Monday, So I Followed Her and Was Shocked by Who She Was Secretly Meeting – Story of the Day

For weeks, Ava faked being sick every Monday, until her mother discovered she was sneaking off to a coffee shop. Fearing teen drama or an older boy, she followed her—only to find Ava meeting Eleanor, her former mother-in-law. Shocked, the mom dragged Ava out, warning her that Eleanor was dangerous. But Ava, convinced “Grandma Ellie” was kind, accused her mom of being controlling and hiding the truth.

Back home, Ava demanded answers. Reluctantly, her mother revealed the painful past: Ava’s father had been abusive and unfaithful, while Eleanor enabled his behavior and tried to destroy her in court during the custody battle. She even spread lies at work and reported her as unfit to CPS. The documents proved it all, and Ava realized her grandmother’s sweet messages were manipulative lies.

Determined to confront Eleanor together, Ava and her mom returned to the coffee shop. When Eleanor tried her usual guilt trips, Ava cut her off, saying she knew the truth and would block her forever. Eleanor’s crocodile tears failed, and she was left sitting alone as they walked out, united at last.

Driving home, Ava admitted she had wanted Eleanor to be good, but now understood her mother’s sacrifices. For the first time in months, she reached for her mom’s hand, apologizing for doubting her. Her mother reassured her: “You’ve always been wanted, Ava. I walked through hell to keep you safe, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
