My Family Demands I Give Up My First Home — Because My Sister Is Pregnant

A woman wrote to share how her lifelong dream of buying her first home was derailed by family pressure. She spent years working since age 15, skipping luxuries and saving every cent. Just as she finally neared her goal, her parents demanded she give all her savings to her sister, the long-favored “family princess,” whose boyfriend left her pregnant. Though she felt sympathy, giving up her dream home felt deeply unfair.

When she refused, her parents immediately turned against her, calling her selfish and accusing her of tearing the family apart. Instead of understanding her hard work, they prioritized her sister once again, insisting she “needed it more.” The pressure didn’t stop there.

The next day, she discovered her sister had already told relatives a twisted version of the story—that she “refused to help at all.” She conveniently left out everything her sibling had done for her over the years. Because of that, much of the family now sees her as cold and uncaring, despite her sacrifices.

All she ever wanted was the home she had worked toward for most of her life. Instead, she’s left heartbroken, misunderstood, and questioning whether her family ever truly valued her.
