Missing 18-Year-Old Marissa DiNapoli Found Dead After She Was Last Seen with Ex-Boyfriend: Report

Authorities have confirmed the death of 18-year-old Marissa DiNapoli, whose body was discovered July 2 in a remote area near Morgan Hill, California. The Santa Clara County Coroner identified her remains the following day.

DiNapoli was last seen on June 29 leaving a residence near Morgan Hill with her reported ex-boyfriend, 21-year-old Martin Mendoza. Surveillance footage later confirmed the two walking out together. Her family reported her missing on June 30, after she failed to return or respond to messages. A relative discovered her remains using a drone near Anderson Lake.

Mendoza has been named a person of interest but is not cooperating with investigators. Police say he may be driving a white Toyota Camry with California plates CW87W00 or 9PTM351.

Friends said DiNapoli had previously expressed fear of Mendoza. Her best friend, Jaslyn Gutierrez, said the 18-year-old believed Mendoza was “obsessed” and had threatened to kill her. DiNapoli had recently graduated and planned to attend Gavilan College.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Kyle Tolentino at (669) 253-4962. More than 30 investigators from local, state, and federal agencies are involved in the case. DiNapoli’s family thanked the public for their support and asked for privacy, requesting no fundraisers be made in her name.
