New Details Emerge in Investigation of Robin Westman, Suspect in Deadly Annunciation Catholic Church Shooting

The mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis left the community shattered after 23-year-old Robin Westman opened fire during a school Mass, killing two children and injuring 18 others. Investigators have uncovered disturbing details about the suspect’s troubled life, including a breakup, estrangement from family, and a manifesto filled with resentment, regret, and anger toward their mother. The writings revealed deep struggles with identity, substance use, and rejection, painting a picture of a young person consumed by turmoil before turning violence on innocent children. Robin died of a self-inflicted wound at the scene, leaving behind devastation and unanswered questions, while the FBI continues to probe possible family connections, including the suspect’s mother, who has refused to cooperate.

The victims, 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Moyski, are being remembered for their joy, kindness, and boundless energy. Their grieving families have shared heart-wrenching tributes, recalling Fletcher’s love for sports, fishing, and family, and Harper’s laughter, compassion, and special bond with her younger sister. Although the wounded are expected to survive, the scars remain deep. Both families are demanding change, calling on leaders to take meaningful steps against gun violence and the mental health crisis so that no other parents endure such loss. In their grief, they urge remembrance of Fletcher and Harper not as victims of violence, but as children whose light was unjustly stolen.
