When Anna returns home to care for her terminally ill mother, she gives up everything to be by her side, while her sister Caitlin keeps her distance. After the funeral, Anna is devastated to discover she’s been completely cut out of the will and that Caitlin has inherited everything — including their childhood home.
Determined to save the house from being sold and demolished, Anna buys it from Caitlin and starts restoring it. During renovations, a hidden envelope beneath the bedroom floorboards reveals her mother’s real will, splitting the estate equally, and a heartfelt letter explaining that Anna was always the one who truly loved and cared for the home. Confronted with proof of Caitlin’s forgery, Anna has the will legally restored.
In the end, Anna keeps the house and her mother’s true wishes alive. She chooses distance from her sister, not out of bitterness, but for her own peace. Sitting on the porch in the evenings, surrounded by familiar creaks and comforting smells, she feels her mother’s presence in every corner of the home that was always meant to be hers, too.
