I Want To Buy My Own House, but I Don’t Want My Husband To Have Any Rights to It

I’m in a complicated situation related to my husband and the house I want to buy, so I need your advice.

I met my husband when I was a student. His family was quite wealthy, while I was struggling to pay off my student loans. When we got married, his parents insisted that I sign a prenup, and I was completely fine with it. According to the agreement, our finances and properties are completely separate unless we decide otherwise.

We currently live in a house with his parents. My husband has never wanted to move out or buy our own home, so I worked hard to achieve that on my own. Over time, I managed to save about 35% of a down payment for a house. I wanted to buy a place of my own that I could be proud of, and I finally found my dream home.

However, out of nowhere, my husband said he wants to co-own this house with me. He suggested we split it 50/50. The problem is, he has a lot of debt and no savings at all. His parents sometimes even cover his monthly expenses, so I’m sure he won’t be able to contribute his share.

Now, he’s saying he won’t move in with me unless I agree to co-ownership, because otherwise it seems like I don’t trust him.

What would you do in my situation? Thank you in advance for your help.
