Melissa Sloan, known as Britain’s “most tattooed mother,” has covered herself in more than 800 tattoos over the last decade, calling the process an addiction. After being rejected by tattoo parlors, she began inking herself three times a week with a tattoo gun she keeps in her car. When she used cheap foundation to briefly hide her tattoos, even her children said she looked like a stranger.
Despite public criticism, bans from venues, and struggles to find work, Sloan says she has no regrets. Her tattoos, she insists, are her freedom and self-expression, and she teaches her children that beauty comes in many forms.
