16-Year-Old High School Football Player Joshua Henderson Dies After Collapsing at Practice

What began as a regular summer football practice turned tragic for the family of 16-year-old Joshua Henderson. The Tennessee high school student collapsed at Bolton High School on July 6, 2025, and later died due to complications from a severe heat stroke. His family confirmed that he passed away on July 26 after weeks of battling organ failure.

Joshua’s mother, Angel, had just dropped him off when she got the call—he was unresponsive. By the time she returned, her son was already in an ambulance, unconscious and unable to breathe. Though practice was held early, the heat that morning was still dangerously high. His family now questions why practices continued in such extreme conditions.

Loved ones describe Joshua as kind, respectful, and full of promise. A dedicated athlete and aspiring engineer, he dreamed of a football scholarship and had already drawn attention from college scouts. His death has devastated his family and community, who remember him not just for his talent, but for his warmth and spirit.

Now, his family is seeking support through a GoFundMe to cover funeral costs and push for answers from school officials. “Joshua’s life was short, but meaningful,” they wrote. “We want to honor him with love, dignity, and peace—and make sure no other family endures this kind of heartbreak.”
