Candace Cameron Bure, 49, Opens Up About Her Health Disorder

Full House actress Candace Cameron Bure recently opened up about her decades-long battle with bulimia on her podcast, admitting that while she no longer binges and purges, she still identifies as bulimic because the thoughts remain.

The struggle began at 18 after her parents, concerned about health, introduced dieting in their household. Although they never pressured her to lose weight, Bure said the constant focus on food and appearance left her feeling her body was never good enough.

She credits her faith, especially reading the Bible, with helping her begin healing: “God allowed my body to speak back and say: ‘Have I not carried you all the days of your life?’” Fans responded with gratitude for her vulnerability, many admitting they shared similar struggles with food and body image.

Now 49, Bure focuses on fitness for health and strength rather than vanity, wanting to stay active as she ages. Still, she faces frequent online criticism about her appearance. She addressed the issue on Instagram, reminding followers: “Comments like this hurt. Be kind. Uplift others. Spread joy.”
