I Refuse to Pay for Family Vacations Just Because I’m Childless

Sarah, 34, shared how her family routinely expected her to pay more for annual vacations simply because she’s single and earns well. This year, her mother assumed she’d cover the costs for her sister and three kids—without asking. For the first time, Sarah said no and chose not to go.

Her decision sparked guilt, anger, and emotional pressure from her family, including tears from her niece. Now estranged from them, Sarah is struggling with guilt but also realizing that love shouldn’t be measured by how much money she gives.
