Authorities Investigate House Fire That Claimed the Life of 21-Year-Old Athlete

A 21-year-old college football player, Izaiah Taylor, was killed in a house fire at his grandfather’s home in Stone Mountain on Monday afternoon while home for the holidays. Firefighters were called to the residence on Rockcliff Court and, after entering the burning home, found Taylor already deceased.

His grandfather, Gregory Edwards, told Fox5 that Taylor was the only person inside at the time. Taylor was an offensive lineman who previously played for Liberty University and Georgia Military College, and he had been home visiting family. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which caused severe damage to the house, now considered a total loss.
