Five young women from Dallas tragically lost their lives in a devastating car accident on July 25, 2025, while heading to Kingsland to celebrate Thalia Salinas’ 23rd birthday. All best friends since high school, the group included Thalia, Brianna Valadez, Ruby Cruz, Desiree Cervantez, and Jacqueline Velasco. Their SUV was struck by a truck pulling a livestock trailer, causing it to flip and catch fire.
Each woman left behind a legacy of love and ambition. Thalia was known as the planner; Brianna was about to start nursing school; Ruby was a loyal friend; Desiree worked at a law firm and was deeply spiritual; Jacqueline, or “Jackie,” was her sister’s best friend. The crash site has since become a roadside memorial, with crosses, flowers, and heartfelt tributes.
Families and friends continue to grieve, sharing memories and messages on social media. Desiree’s mother posted touching screenshots of their last conversation and shared her daughter’s final Post-It notes, filled with messages of faith and hope. The women’s bond was so deep, Desiree’s mom wrote, “They were inseparable.”
As the investigation continues, the truck driver’s identity has not been released, and no charges have been filed. In the wake of unimaginable loss, the community has rallied around the families through donations, prayers, and public memorials, holding onto the light each young woman left behind.
