Controlling boyfriend who flushed partner’s rabbit down the toilet will spend Christmas behind bars after being caught on the run in Thailand

Nicholas Cash, 26, will spend Christmas behind bars after being arrested in Thailand following three years on the run. Cash fled the UK after carrying out a sustained campaign of abuse against his former partner, Olivia Croft, which included assault, coercive control, and killing her pet rabbit by flushing it down the toilet. He was convicted in his absence in 2023 and sentenced to eight years in prison.

After falsely claiming illness to avoid trial, Cash fled abroad but was tracked down through joint efforts by Dorset Police, the National Crime Agency, and Thai authorities. He now faces extradition to the UK, where judges said his actions were “mean, callous, and cowardly,” while his victim said the arrest finally brought a sense of relief after years of fear.
