Why you should never place your bed like this ?

A widely shared image on social media has sparked both curiosity and debate, showing a stern elderly woman warning that placing a bed in a certain position can “attract poverty and ruin.” While the claim sounds dramatic, it stems from Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese philosophy focused on harmonizing living spaces to support health, balance, and prosperity. The image highlights what Feng Shui practitioners call the “coffin position,” where the bed is placed so the feet point directly toward the door. Symbolically, this alignment is believed to represent the exit of life energy, or Chi, during sleep. According to these beliefs, such a setup may disrupt rest, increase stress, weaken emotional stability, and even invite financial or personal struggles—not because of mysticism alone, but due to a constant subconscious sense of vulnerability while sleeping.

Feng Shui instead encourages positioning the bed in a way that promotes security and calm. Ideally, the headboard should rest against a solid wall, with a clear view of the door but not directly aligned with it. Windows behind the headboard are also discouraged, as they are thought to destabilize energy. If rearranging isn’t possible, practitioners suggest using a screen, plant, or furniture as a visual buffer between the bed and the doorway. Keeping the space under the bed uncluttered is also considered important, allowing energy—and airflow—to circulate freely. While there’s no scientific evidence proving Feng Shui’s energetic claims, many people report improved sleep quality and peace of mind after reorganizing their bedrooms. At its core, Feng Shui can be viewed less as superstition and more as a mindful approach to creating a restful, orderly environment that supports well-being and emotional comfort.
