Ohio Dentist & Wife Found Dead at Their Home — Details

What began as a quiet concern over a missed shift quickly escalated into a devastating discovery. On the morning of December 30, 2025, colleagues at Athens Dental Depot contacted police after dentist Spencer Tepe failed to arrive at work or answer his phone—something they described as completely out of character. According to records reported by The Columbus Dispatch, Columbus police conducted an initial welfare check at the couple’s Weinland Park home but found no response. As the morning progressed and multiple calls came in—from coworkers, a friend, and a man at the residence reporting children inside and a body visible near a bed—officers returned to the home. Inside, police found two young children and the bodies of Spencer, 37, and his wife, Monique Tepe, 39. Spencer had been shot multiple times. Authorities later confirmed the case is being treated as a homicide and have ruled out a murder-suicide, though no suspects have been publicly named.

As investigators work to piece together what happened, the community has been left shaken and grieving. Neighbors described the area as typically quiet, struggling to understand how such violence could occur so close to home. Spencer was remembered as a dedicated dentist, Ohio State University graduate, and devoted family man, while Monique was described by loved ones as warm, welcoming, and deeply connected to others. Family members emphasized the couple’s love for their children and said a strong community would now step in to support them. Police have not confirmed whether a robbery occurred or how the suspect entered the home, though reports suggest nearby surveillance footage may be under review. An unverified online claim about a search of Monique’s name before the killings has not been addressed by authorities. For now, Columbus Police say the investigation remains active. What started as concern over a missed routine has become a haunting reminder of how quickly ordinary moments can give way to profound loss—and how many questions can remain unanswered in their aftermath.
