Rep. Raúl Grijalva of Arizona has passed away at 77 due to cancer treatment complications, his office announced Thursday. He revealed his diagnosis in April 2024.Elected in 2002, Grijalva was a key figure in the House Natural Resources Committee, a strong environmental advocate,
and a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Known for his kind nature, he represented a solidly Democratic district near the U.S.-Mexico border and won reelection last November by 25 points.His seat will be filled through a special election. His passing follows the recent death of Texas Rep. Sylvester Turner.
