Boy Calls 911 to Ask For Help with Math, Cops Soon Realize He Needs Real Help – Story of the Day

Ryan Crosby, 8, was struggling with his math homework when he decided to call 911 for help. At first, the dispatcher thought it was a prank — until Ryan revealed he was home alone.

Alarmed, officers rushed to his house and learned his mom, Matilda, hadn’t been home since morning. They tried calling her but couldn’t reach her, so they tracked her phone to the outskirts of town.

With the help of a K9 unit, they found Matilda unconscious in her car. She had fainted from heat while driving and had been there all day with a dead phone battery.

Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, and she later recovered.

When Ryan saw his mom again, he hugged her tightly as she told him, “You saved my life.”

The incident proved how important it is to teach kids when and how to call 911 — because even a call made for the wrong reason can end up saving someone’s life.
