David was relaxing at the country club after a long week when his phone buzzed. Seeing his wife Sarah’s name, he answered cheerfully, “Hello?” Sarah’s voice was sweet as she asked, “Honey, are you at the club?” When David confirmed, she excitedly told him she was at the mall nearby and had found a beautiful mink coat. “It’s absolutely gorgeous! Can I buy it?” she asked eagerly.
Curious, David asked for the price. “Only $1,500,” Sarah replied quickly. Though surprised, David sighed and agreed, “Well, okay, go ahead and get it if you like it that much.” He thought that would be the end of it, happy to make her day special.
But Sarah wasn’t done. “Ahhh, and I also stopped by the car dealership,” she added casually, her tone almost too innocent. David’s heart skipped a beat, and his grip on the phone tightened as he realized this conversation was about to take a very expensive turn.
In that moment, David understood that Sarah’s call wasn’t just about a coat—it was the beginning of a shopping spree that would test his patience, his wallet, and maybe even their marriage.
