I Stopped Giving Money to My Parents — My Mother’s Reaction Was Absolutely Disgusting

A man had always given part of his salary to his parents out of love and gratitude. After his first child was born, he explained to them that money was tight, and they would need to take care of themselves. His parents said they understood, but the next day, his mother showed up asking for money to cover a summer trip with friends, leaving his wife in tears. He reluctantly sent a small amount to help with the cancellation fees, but instead of gratitude, his mother publicly complained online about being “forgotten.”

Soon after, his father called, saying his mother was heartbroken and not speaking to anyone. The man felt torn between his love for his parents and his responsibility to his wife and newborn child. He realized his mother expected financial support as a given, and any refusal caused guilt and drama.

To protect his family, he decided to set firm boundaries. He planned to calmly explain to his mom that his priorities had shifted, while asking his dad to help her understand. He also resolved not to send money just to “keep the peace,” recognizing that doing so would only encourage more emotional manipulation.

The man understood that choosing his wife and child first didn’t make him selfish — it made him a responsible husband and father. Though painful, he saw that real love wasn’t about endless financial sacrifice, but about building a healthy future for his own family.
