A man finds a wallet with $700. Days later, he sees a notice: a rich man lost a wallet and offers a $50 reward. When the man returns it, the rich man counts the money and accuses him of taking $50, claiming it originally had $750.
They go to court. After hearing both sides, the judge hands the wallet to the poor man, saying, “If you say your wallet had $750, I believe you. Since this man returned it, he must be honest—so this must be someone else’s wallet. When your real wallet with $750 is found, you’ll get it back.”
The rich man protests, and the judge replies, “We’ll wait until someone finds your wallet with $750.”
