Sophie Downing received the voucher for 200 Degrees as a Christmas gift and was stunned when a cashier noticed the enormous figure while she was buying a matcha latte. The receipt confirmed the astronomical amount — a sum that would technically dwarf the fortunes of billionaires like Elon Musk and even surpass the GDP of major global economies.
Despite the mind-blowing balance, there’s a catch: the card can only be used at the coffee shop. Downing, who runs a beauty business, suspects a barcode error caused the glitch and has chosen not to take advantage of it. Although the balance still shows the same massive amount, she says she won’t “clear the shelves,” opting instead to act responsibly while the shop has yet to formally address the mistake.
