Eric Dane’s Final Instagram Post Before Passing Away at 53

Hollywood is mourning the loss of Eric Dane, who passed away at 53 after battling ALS, but his final social media post revealed a man determined to fight until the end. In December 2025, he announced he had joined the board of Target ALS, writing, “This disease takes something from me every day. But I won’t let it take my spirit.” Rather than stepping back, Dane leaned into advocacy, working to advance research and raise awareness while continuing to act, including portraying a character with ALS on television even as his own symptoms progressed.

Diagnosed in 2024, Dane spoke candidly about the toll of the disease, from losing strength in his right hand to facing increasing physical limitations. Despite the challenges, he remained committed to his craft and to supporting the ALS community, crediting his family — especially wife Rebecca Gayheart and their two daughters — as his foundation. In interviews, he acknowledged the heartbreak but refused to surrender to despair, choosing instead to use his voice, platform, and final months to push for hope, dignity, and progress in the fight against ALS.
