A South Carolina mother who was reported missing after attending a church conference in Atlanta has now been located at a hospital in Georgia. Leigh McAlister, 37, was last heard from on the evening of February 13 while in Midtown Atlanta. She had planned to return home to Lexington, near Columbia, on February 14, but did not make the trip back. Her husband, Rob McAlister, reported her missing on Valentine’s Day, saying it was completely out of character for her to disappear without contact — especially leaving behind their four-year-old son. Friends circulated a missing person poster online, noting she had mentioned possibly extending her stay by a day for unknown reasons. The last confirmed sighting of Leigh was at a Publix supermarket in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood on the night of February 14.
The situation became more concerning when her SUV was discovered abandoned near Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, less than 10 miles from where she was last seen. Inside the vehicle were her phone, wallet, and other personal belongings — items her husband said she would not normally leave behind. Authorities launched an investigation, with the Major Crimes Unit examining the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the abandoned vehicle. Days later, Rob shared on social media that Leigh had been found at a hospital in Atlanta. While many questions remain unanswered, her discovery has brought relief to her family as officials continue to look into what happened during the time she was unaccounted for.
