Christina Applegate shares tragic update on her battle with multiple sclerosis

Christina Applegate has shared a deeply personal update about living with multiple sclerosis (MS), five years after first revealing her diagnosis in 2021. Now 54, the actress says the disease has significantly limited her daily life, leaving her bedridden for much of the day. In a recent interview, she explained that simple activities require careful planning and energy she often doesn’t have. Still, she makes one important exception: driving her 15-year-old daughter to school. She described those quiet car rides as her favorite part of the day, a small but meaningful routine that keeps her grounded. Afterward, she returns home to rest, conserving strength as her body continues to adjust to the unpredictable challenges of MS.

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune condition that affects the brain and spinal cord, often causing fatigue, mobility issues, muscle stiffness, and vision problems. While treatments can help manage symptoms and slow progression, there is currently no cure. Applegate has been open about the emotional toll of the illness, calling it one of the hardest experiences of her life. She previously used a cane during public appearances and explained that even wearing shoes can sometimes feel uncomfortable due to balance and sensory issues. Despite these challenges, she continues to approach her journey with honesty and humor, exploring her life experiences in her upcoming memoir while remaining involved in the entertainment industry in new ways.
