An urgent warning has been issued after a multistate outbreak of E. coli infections was linked to raw cheddar cheese produced by California-based Raw Farm. At least seven people, including young children, across three states—California, Florida, and Texas—fell ill after consuming the raw cheese. While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has advised Raw Farm to voluntarily withdraw its products from sale, the company has refused, arguing that no E. coli pathogens have been found in their products. The outbreak occurred between September 2025 and February 2026, with most cases affecting children aged three or younger. Although no deaths have been reported, the outbreak has raised concerns about food safety, especially with the ongoing investigation into the source of the contamination. Health officials have urged people to avoid eating the affected cheese and to consult a healthcare provider if they experience severe symptoms like stomach cramps or bloody diarrhea.
Meanwhile, a new report from dentist Dr. Sofina Ahmed sheds light on why many people wake up with a bad taste in their mouths, even after a good night’s sleep. Dr. Ahmed explains that dry mouth, often caused by sleeping with an open mouth or breathing through the mouth, leads to an overgrowth of bacteria, which can result in a foul taste. Other factors like sinus issues or poor sleep quality can also contribute to morning breath. Dr. Ahmed recommends staying hydrated, using sugar-free gum to stimulate saliva production, and brushing the tongue to reduce the build-up of bacteria. Additionally, for those experiencing more severe symptoms, such as a salty or metallic taste, it may be due to sinus problems, which should be addressed with the help of a healthcare professional.
