Melissa Sloan, known as Britain’s “most tattooed mother,” has over 800 tattoos, a passion she started more than a decade ago. Her addiction to body art grew so intense that when tattoo parlors began refusing her, she bought her own kit and now tattoos herself anywhere, even in her car. She has been getting three tattoos a week for ten years, to the point that she barely remembers her appearance without them.
In an experiment, Sloan covered her tattoos with foundation to reveal her natural look. The transformation shocked everyone, including her two young sons, who didn’t recognize her and asked her to “go back to her craziness.” Sadly, her five older children disapprove of her tattoos and have cut ties with her. While some online admired her tattoo-free look, Sloan says she doesn’t regret her ink and sees it as a form of freedom and self-expression, despite being labeled a “freak” by others.
Her heavily tattooed appearance has caused her to face discrimination, including being banned from certain bars, school events, and even denied jobs. Sloan previously worked as a toilet cleaner but struggles to find work now because of her appearance. She says she would happily accept a job offer if someone gave her a chance.
Despite the challenges, Sloan remains unapologetic. She believes her tattoos teach her children about embracing individuality, proving that beauty comes in many forms. While society may judge her, she is committed to staying true to herself and her unique identity.
