According to him, recovering the device could reveal the divers’ final moments and help determine whether they became disoriented inside the cave system. The University of Genoa released a statement mourning the deaths of four individuals connected to the institution, describing the loss as both sudden and tragic. Cave diving expert John Volanthen later explained that the cave’s depth and structure make rescues exceptionally difficult, especially if divers lose their guideline while navigating the tunnels.
