Dolly Parton’s Niece and Sisters Share Heartbreaking Tributes After Her Death — Their Memories Reveal a Different Side of the Star

Dolly Parton’s family is now facing the painful reality of life without the woman they knew not simply as a country music legend, but as a beloved sister, aunt, and “Granny.” After her private funeral in Nashville, emotional tributes from relatives offered a deeply personal glimpse into the relationships behind her extraordinary public career. Her great-niece Lainey Mae Parton remembered how Dolly always encouraged her dreams, even when she chose beauty school instead of college. She also recalled singing alongside her aunt and sharing special family moments that have now become treasured memories. “It still doesn’t feel real that she’s gone,” Lainey wrote, describing how much she would miss Dolly’s voice, laughter, hugs, and even the unexpected early-morning phone calls. Calling herself incredibly lucky to have known Dolly as her “Granny,” Lainey said her aunt made her believe she could accomplish anything.

Dolly’s sisters also revealed memories that showed just how important she was inside the family. Freida Parton described Dolly as her “Dolly Momma,” explaining that her older sister helped raise her from ages 13 to 18. She remembered childhood moments, disagreements, laughter, and tears, but said her love for Dolly never changed. Stella Parton shared another touching memory: their Tuesday morning coffee calls, when the sisters would talk about family, plans, and everyday life. “My Tuesday morning coffee time will never be the same,” Stella wrote, while promising that Dolly’s love and kindness would remain. Other relatives similarly described Dolly as a trusted confidant, godmother, and source of encouragement. Following her private burial in Nashville, these family memories have become an especially poignant reminder that behind the rhinestones, awards, and worldwide fame was a woman whose greatest legacy may have been the love she gave to the people closest to her.
