Patrick Clancy has spoken publicly about the devastating conversation he had with Lindsay Clancy after the deaths of their three children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan. During an interview with 60 Minutes, Patrick recalled asking Lindsay whether she remembered what had happened. According to him, she described the events as feeling “like a dream,” saying her memories resembled the way someone might remember a dream after waking. Patrick also discussed the day he returned home and discovered the children in the basement. Five-year-old Cora and three-year-old Dawson had already died, while eight-month-old Callan was taken to hospital by air ambulance. Patrick said he desperately hoped Callan would survive, imagining that he could raise his remaining child and tell him about his brother and sister. Callan died four days later in Patrick’s arms. Although Lindsay did not ask him for forgiveness, Patrick said he chose to forgive her because he feared refusing to do so would consume him emotionally for the rest of his life. Lindsay’s defense has argued that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis and could not distinguish right from wrong, while prosecutors have maintained that the killings were intentional.

The case ended in a mistrial earlier this month after the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict following six weeks of testimony. One juror, Michael P. Desronvil, later identified himself as the lone holdout who believed the evidence supported murder convictions. He said he had “no doubts” about his position and felt he was repeatedly interrupted when presenting theories during deliberations. Other jurors offered differing accounts of the discussions, with some saying they ultimately believed Lindsay needed treatment rather than imprisonment. Desronvil also said that his personal information had been shared online and that he received death threats afterward. Patrick separately addressed conspiracy theories accusing him of involvement in his children’s deaths, describing the claims as painful and saying repeated misinformation could cause people to believe false allegations. The court has not yet determined whether Lindsay will face a retrial.
