Justin Jedlica, the California man widely known as the “human Ken Doll,” has undergone more than 550 cosmetic procedures in his pursuit of a highly customized appearance. The 36-year-old Los Angeles resident has reportedly spent around $560,000 on his transformations and says he views the work as a form of art rather than simply cosmetic enhancement. He has credited plastic surgery with giving him greater confidence and self-esteem, saying those changes helped him achieve a lifestyle he once never imagined, including living in a multimillion-dollar home in West Hollywood. Jedlica has also made clear that he does not plan to stop. His latest procedures involved revising implants in his latissimus muscles, which he described as the “wings” of the back, replacing them with slimmer versions, moving a teres implant to improve symmetry, and having a prominent forehead vein removed. He explained that he personally conceptualized his original back augmentation and designed the implants, becoming the first person to undergo the procedure.

The latest revision was necessary because Jedlica felt the original latissimus implants were simply too large. Because the implants are unusually big and hook-shaped, removing them is more complicated than taking out conventional implants. Jedlica explained that surgeons would have to make an incision beneath his armpit before removing the implants piece by piece, using their hands or instruments to extract sections and clear the implant pocket. Before selecting the replacements, he planned to test five sample implants from two different companies to determine which design suited him best. Despite the risks and the enormous number of procedures he has already undergone, Jedlica remains committed to modifying his appearance according to his own vision. “I chose to look a specific way,” he previously said, explaining that his idea of beauty does not necessarily match conventional standards but is ultimately about creating an appearance he personally finds beautiful.
