What is this…? I found it in my grandmother’s closet

While cleaning out an old cupboard, I stumbled upon a small box filled with delicate glass tubes—thin, colorful, and each adorned with a tiny hook. At first, I thought they were just quirky little trinkets or maybe part of a long-forgotten craft project. Their fragile beauty fascinated me, but their purpose was a mystery.

Curious, I asked a relative about them. To my surprise, they weren’t random ornaments at all, but miniature vases once worn in the pockets of jackets or coats. Back in the day, people would slip a single flower into these vessels before heading out, turning something as simple as a walk or a gathering into a graceful statement.

Each flower carried a meaning—a rose for love, a violet for loyalty, a daisy for innocence. These small gestures spoke volumes without a single word, adding a quiet layer of beauty and care to everyday life. It was more than fashion; it was a way to communicate feelings through something living and fleeting.

Now, the vases sit on my shelf, fragile yet full of history. Whenever I see them, they remind me to slow down and find poetry in the little things. Maybe it’s time to bring back that tradition—one flower, one message, one quiet moment at a time.
