Cibele Marchis, 28, and her mother, Maria Elisabete Nogueira, 56, faced devastating cancer diagnoses before dying just hours apart in Brazil. Cibele passed away in Mogi Guaçu, São Paulo, at 4 p.m. on September 24, 2026, after battling a rare form of adrenal cancer. Her mother died approximately 10 hours later, at around 2 a.m. on September 25, while receiving treatment at another hospital. Their family has since revealed an especially heartbreaking detail about their final days: both women had asked relatives not to tell them if the other died while they were separated. According to Cibele’s cousin, Rowilson Leandro da Costa, the mother and daughter had discussed the possibility of one of them passing away first and did not want to experience the pain of knowing the other had died. As a result, Maria never learned that her daughter had passed away before her own death. The loss left Cibele’s father grieving both his daughter and his wife within the space of a single night. “He lost his family,” Rowilson said, describing how difficult it was for him to return home to an empty house.

Cibele had previously shared details of her illness online, explaining that she was diagnosed with a rare adrenal cancer after doctors discovered a 10-centimeter tumor that had already affected her kidney. Local reports say their funerals were held in the same ceremony, allowing their family and loved ones to mourn them together.
