A horrifying incident in South Carolina has left two young children seriously injured after authorities accused their 35-year-old mother, Taylor Gosnell, of attacking them inside their Spartanburg County home. Deputies reportedly discovered the 3-year-old and 6-year-old covered in blood when they responded to the residence on September 26. Investigators estimated that the children had suffered approximately 50 stab wounds between them, with some injuries reportedly reaching the bone. Both children were rushed to the hospital and are expected to survive, but the older child suffered especially severe injuries and could potentially require amputations involving fingers and possibly an arm. Authorities also reportedly found signs of a violent struggle inside the home, including damaged televisions and mirrors.
Gosnell was later arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder. Authorities said she appeared distressed and was speaking rapidly when she returned to the home during the investigation. She reportedly told deputies she was experiencing visions and allegedly attempted to escape while being transported in an ambulance, resulting in her being restrained to the stretcher. A judge subsequently denied her bond, keeping her in custody as the investigation continues. The children have been placed in protective custody and are receiving treatment at Greenville Children’s Hospital. Authorities said Gosnell also had pending child-endangerment charges dating from 2024. Her next court appearance is scheduled for November 12. A neighbor expressed heartbreak over the incident, saying they wished they could have done something to help the children and hoped they would now be placed somewhere safe and properly cared for.
