Newly released bodycam footage shows the emotional aftermath of Ashley Flynn’s fatal shooting, capturing her husband and former “American Idol” contestant Caleb Flynn sobbing uncontrollably as officers arrived at their Ohio home. In the footage, Caleb repeatedly cried, “Oh my god,” asked officers whether Ashley was gone, and struggled to breathe before becoming sick. He later called his mother and tearfully told her, “Ashley’s dead,” while repeatedly asking what he should do with his two daughters, who were inside the home. The footage also showed Caleb embracing the girls’ grandmother, both visibly devastated by Ashley’s death. At the time, Caleb told police he had heard something, frozen, and then discovered the garage door open. Officers initially treated the scene as a possible home invasion and collected DNA and other evidence as they investigated.

The case later took a dramatic turn when Caleb was arrested and accused of killing Ashley and staging the scene to resemble a burglary. Some messages reportedly showed Caleb discussing thoughts of killing Ashley months before her death. Prosecutors argued that he feared the consequences of divorce, including losing custody of his daughters and his jobs. The defense maintained that infidelity did not prove murder and challenged the prosecution’s interpretation of the evidence. A jury ultimately found Caleb guilty on all nine charges, including murder and tampering with evidence. He faces life in prison without parole and is scheduled to be sentenced October 5.
